Efficiency, productivity dynamics and determinants of productivity growth in Indian telecommunication industries: An empirical analysis

Dhirendra Kumar Sahoo et al.

Summary: This paper examines the efficiency and productivity dynamics of the Indian telecommunication sector with the help of non-parametric Data Envelopment Analysis approach for the period 2008-2015. The study finds that the overall TFP growth is negative, with positive growth in certain specific years. From the components of TFP growth, it is determined that the negative growth of the firms is due to negative technology change, not inefficiency change. Furthermore, the study shows that the mean efficiency score is positive and supported by scale efficiency change. Additionally, it is found that profit intensity, advertisement intensity, import intensity, and capital intensity positively affect TFP growth, while the firm's debt ratio has a negative effect on TFP growth.

Deconstructing three-stage overall efficiency into input, output and stability efficiency components with consideration of market power and loan loss provision: An application to Chinese banks

Hirofumi Fukuyama et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new three-stage DEA model to analyze bank efficiency, showcasing that stability efficiency scores highest and Chinese commercial banks exhibit the lowest input efficiency. Financial risk levels are higher in the central region of China, while the western region displays the opposite pattern in terms of input inefficiency.

Research on China's agricultural carbon emission efficiency evaluation and regional differentiation based on DEA and Theil models

R. Wang et al.

Summary: This paper evaluates the carbon emission efficiency of agriculture in China using data envelopment analysis and Malmquist index models from a static and dynamic perspective. The results show that the agricultural carbon emission efficiency in the east of China is the highest, while the west has the lowest efficiency. The overall agricultural carbon emission efficiency in China is increasing, with significant regional differences, particularly in terms of technical efficiency.

Allocation of Emissions Permit for Chinas Iron and Steel Industry in an Imperfectly Competitive Market: A Nash Equilibrium DEA Method

Chia-Yen Lee et al.

Summary: China is currently the world's largest producer and consumer of iron and steel, with the industry being one of the most energy- and emission-intensive industries in the country. Energy conservation and emission reduction in this industry are crucial for China to fulfill its obligations of reducing greenhouse gas emission and mitigating global climate change. This paper proposes a new emissions permit allocation method based on a Nash equilibrium data envelopment analysis model.
