Red-light excited efficient metal-free near-infrared room-temperature phosphorescent films

Siyu Sun et al.

Summary: A set of metal-free room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) systems were developed using brominated phenolsulfonephthaleine derivatives, which exhibited red light excitation and the highest phosphorescence quantum yield reported so far. The RTP emission could be controlled by adding acid and alkali alternately, and a logic operation with half-subtractor function and dual-channel response was constructed based on these properties.

Carbazole isomers induce ultralong organic phosphorescence

Chengjian Chen et al.

Summary: Commercial carbazole is commonly used to synthesize organic functional materials. An isomer of carbazole found in commercially produced batches is responsible for the ultralong phosphorescence observed in these compounds and their derivatives.

Organic phosphors with bright triplet excitons for efficient X-ray-excited luminescence

Xiao Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents metal-free organic phosphors with efficient triplet exciton harvesting, exhibiting a low detection limit and potential application in X-ray radiography. These findings offer a promising alternative to incumbent inorganic scintillators and provide opportunities for development of flexible, stretchable X-ray detectors and imagers for non-destructive radiography testing and medical imaging.

Highly Efficient Room-Temperature Phosphorescence Based on Single-Benzene Structure Molecules and Photoactivated Luminescence with Afterglow

Liangwei Ma et al.

Summary: A series of high intersystem crossing yield phosphors based on single-benzene structure were obtained in this study, showing efficient phosphorescence emission after being embedded into a polyvinyl alcohol matrix. Photo-switchable phosphorescence emission can be achieved by doping these molecules into a PMMA matrix.
