Carbazole isomers induce ultralong organic phosphorescence

Chengjian Chen et al.

Summary: Commercial carbazole is commonly used to synthesize organic functional materials. An isomer of carbazole found in commercially produced batches is responsible for the ultralong phosphorescence observed in these compounds and their derivatives.

Organic phosphors with bright triplet excitons for efficient X-ray-excited luminescence

Xiao Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents metal-free organic phosphors with efficient triplet exciton harvesting, exhibiting a low detection limit and potential application in X-ray radiography. These findings offer a promising alternative to incumbent inorganic scintillators and provide opportunities for development of flexible, stretchable X-ray detectors and imagers for non-destructive radiography testing and medical imaging.

Boosting Wide-Range Tunable Long-Afterglow in 1D Metal-Organic Halide Micro/Nanocrystals for Space/Time-Resolved Information Photonics

Bo Zhou et al.

Summary: This study developed new types of metal-organic halide micro/nanocrystals with tunable afterglow properties, achieved by rational control over both ultralong-lived room-temperature phosphorescence and thermally activated delayed fluorescence. This opens up possibilities for achieving ultralong afterglow emission in low-dimensional micro/nanostructures.

Room-Temperature Phosphorescent Organic-Doped Inorganic Frameworks Showing Wide-Range and Multicolor Long-Persistent Luminescence

Guowei Xiao et al.

Summary: This work introduces a new approach of organic-doped inorganic framework to achieve wide-range and multicolor ultralong room-temperature phosphorescence, demonstrating the enhancement of RTP lifetime and quantum yield. Further codoping with inorganic ions enables tunable afterglow emission covering nearly the whole visible spectrum, making it promising for various applications.

Two-Photon Ionization Induced Stable White Organic Long Persistent Luminescence

Xiao Liang et al.

Summary: In this work, organic long persistent luminescence (OLPL) materials with a duration of 20 to 40 minutes are achieved in a simple binary system based on a two-photon ionization mechanism. This system can simultaneously harvest excitons from both singlet and triplet excited states, making it a promising candidate for stable white OLPL. Through modulation and optimization of dopant molecules, the emission profiles of afterglow can be readily tuned to different shades of white with excellent color consistency.

Organic room-temperature phosphorescence from halogen-bonded organic frameworks: hidden electronic effects in rigidified chromophores

Jiawang Zhou et al.

Summary: Development of new organic phosphorescent materials with high quantum yields was achieved by introducing various bromo substituents to modulate intermolecular halogen-bonding interactions. Strategic heavy-atom positioning was found to suppress non-radiative relaxation and enhance intersystem crossing, facilitated by the orbital angular momentum change. Results suggest the potential of multivalent noncovalent interactions for excited-state conformation and electronic control.
