Giant Optical Anisotropy in the UV-Transparent 2D Nonlinear Optical Material Sc(IO3)2(NO3)

Chao Wu et al.

Summary: The study reports a new 2D rare-earth iodate-nitrate crystal SINO, which exhibits giant optical anisotropy in the UV region with a short UV absorption edge, strong NLO response, and the largest birefringence. This is attributed to its optimized structure and building units with high polarization and anisotropy, which may lead to the development of UV linear and NLO materials with giant optical anisotropy for potential applications in optoelectronic devices.

Discovery of NLO Semiorganic (C5H6ON)+(H2PO4)-: Dipole Moment Modulation and Superior Synergy in Solar-Blind UV Regions

Jing Lu et al.

Summary: A novel semiorganic NLO material, 4HPP, has been reported with excellent properties surpassing the commercialized LAP, including better thermal stability, a wider transparency range, stronger SHG response, and a higher laser-induced damage threshold. The study highlights the importance of the π-conjugated organic cation and synergy of organic and inorganic moieties in governing the optical anisotropy and SHG process, respectively. This discovery paves the way for the rational design of high-performance semiorganic materials with acentric structures.

UV Solar-Blind-Region Phase-Matchable Optical Nonlinearity and Anisotropy in a π-Conjugated Cation-Containing Phosphate

Chao Wu et al.

Summary: GPO is a non-traditional UV NLO phosphate material with wide UV transparency, strong SHG response, and sufficient optical birefringence, making it suitable for phase-matching at short SHG wavelengths. Due to the introduction of pi-conjugated cations and their favorable arrangement with anions, GPO shows promising potential as a UV solar-blind NLO material that simultaneously optimizes wide UV transparency, large SHG response, and optical anisotropy.
