Effect of different turbulence model on prediction of lean blowout limit for micro gas turbine combustor

V Kirubakaran et al.

Summary: This paper presents turbulence modelling results of methane/air combustion in a micro gas turbine combustor using different turbulence models. The impact of these models on predicting Lean Blowout (LBO) behavior was investigated. The results showed that two-equation turbulence models give consistent simulation results with experimental results, and standard k-epsilon model gives consistent simulation results with experimental data.

Experimental and numerical prediction of lean blowout limits for micro gas turbine combustor

V Kirubaharan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to predict the lean blowout limits of a swirl stabilized 3kW micro gas turbine combustor through experimental and numerical methods. The predicted equivalence ratio for blowout decreases with increasing combustor inlet velocity. The methodology presented in this study can be used for design and testing stages of combustors, with a maximum uncertainty of 6% compared to experimental results.
