Electrocatalytic Oxygen Reduction to Hydrogen Peroxide: From Homogenous to Heterogenous Electrocatalysis

Identification of durable and non-durable FeNx sites in Fe-N-C materials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells

Summary: Fe-N-C materials show promise as an alternative to platinum in acidic polymer fuel cells, but limited understanding of their operando degradation hinders rational approaches to improved durability. Two distinct FeNx sites in the catalysts degrade differently during the oxygen reduction reaction, with one site substantially contributing after 50 hours of operation.

Zero-Valent Palladium Single-Atoms Catalysts Confined in Black Phosphorus for Efficient Semi-Hydrogenation

Summary: In this study, 2D black phosphorus is demonstrated to act as a giant phosphorus ligand to confine a high density of single atoms (e.g., Pd-1, Pt-1) via atomic layer deposition. Compared to other materials, black phosphorus favors the strong confinement of stable zero-valent palladium single-atom catalysts, showing highly selective semi-hydrogenation capabilities.

Iron Single Atom Catalyzed Quinoline Synthesis

Summary: The study focuses on the development of mechanically strong, hierarchically porous carbon plates for the immobilization of single-atom catalysts (SACs) to enhance catalytic activity and stability. The carbon-based SACs exhibit excellent activity and selectivity for the synthesis of a wide assortment of quinolines through a three-component oxidative cyclization. The strategy is also applicable to challenging reactions such as the deuteration of quinolines at the fourth position.

Through a molecular engineering approach, Pd-N3C1-SAC with a pre-defined coordinating environment shows higher activity and efficiency compared to traditional SACs.
