Achieving 16.68% efficiency ternary as-cast organic solar cells

Ruijie Ma et al.

Summary: This article introduces highly efficient ternary OSCs based on PM6:BTP-ClBr1:BTP-2O-4Cl-C12, with 16.68% power conversion efficiency for as-cast device, relatively close to its annealed counterpart. The improved PCE of ternary device is mainly attributed to improved morphological properties including the more favorable materials miscibility, crystallinity, domain size and vertical phase separation. These results provide understanding and guidance for high-performance as-cast OSCs through the ternary strategy.

Asymmetric Alkoxy and Alkyl Substitution on Nonfullerene Acceptors Enabling High-Performance Organic Solar Cells

Yuzhong Chen et al.

Summary: The paper presents a strategy of asymmetric alkyl and alkoxy substitution on Y-series nonfullerene acceptors, achieving great performance in organic solar cell devices. Asymmetric substitution on Y6 results in a molecule that maintains V-oc improvement and good solubility, enabling highly efficient nonfullerene OSCs. This asymmetric side-chain strategy shows potential for improving the performance of other NFA-material systems.

Side-Chain Engineering on Y-Series Acceptors with Chlorinated End Groups Enables High-Performance Organic Solar Cells

Yuzhong Chen et al.

Summary: Chemical modifications of non-fullerene acceptors have been shown to improve the efficiency of organic solar cells. By introducing chlorination and inner side-chain engineering, a higher power conversion efficiency was achieved. Furthermore, the impact of asymmetric alkoxy substitution on the outer side chains was studied, highlighting the importance of achieving a balance between open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current density.

Alkoxy substitution on IDT-Series and Y-Series non-fullerene acceptors yielding highly efficient organic solar cells

Yuzhong Chen et al.

Summary: In this work, the effects of alkoxy-substitution on two well-known non-fullerene acceptors, IDT-series and Y-series acceptors, were investigated. The resulting molecules, IDTN-O and Y6-O, exhibited altered properties compared to the original acceptors, resulting in improved device performance. The alkoxy substitution led to enhanced open-circuit voltage and better blend morphology, ultimately optimizing the performance of the devices based on IDTN and Y6.
