Healthcare Patterns of Pregnant Women and Children Affected by OUD in 9 State Medicaid Populations

Summary: The study found an increase in OUD diagnosis and use of MOUD during pregnancy, with significant variations in the continuity of MOUD across different states. The rate of neonates diagnosed with NOWS also increased, with varying rates of recommended well-child visits for children in different states.

Infant Mortality Associated With Prenatal Opioid Exposure

Summary: Health outcomes of opioid-exposed infants, particularly those not diagnosed with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS), are limited. This study found that infants exposed to opioids not diagnosed with NOWS had a higher mortality rate compared to those diagnosed with NOWS. Different medical interventions may affect the survival rate of these infants.
