Impact of the antibiotic-cargo from MSNs on gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial biofilms

Summary: This study systematically and quantitatively investigated the direct effect of antibiotic-cargo released from mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) on bacterial biofilms, with evaluations of the biological activity at different time points. In addition, in vitro biocompatibility assays on osteoblast-like cells were conducted for these MSNs-based nano therapies.
