Mesoporous Assembly of Aluminum Molecular Rings for Iodine Capture

Shuyang Yao et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel supramolecular nanocage structure assembled from aluminum molecular rings, exhibiting superior iodine adsorption behavior. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals the binding sites of molecular I-2 within the cages. The resulting adsorbent demonstrates a high iodine vapor saturation uptake capacity and can be recycled for further use.

A nitrogen-rich covalent organic framework for simultaneous dynamic capture of iodine and methyl iodide

Linwei He et al.

Summary: A new design philosophy involving a nitrogen-rich covalent organic framework material with enhanced specific host-guest interactions has been proposed for the simultaneous capture of both iodine gas and organic iodide. This material shows an ultrahigh uptake capacity under static sorption conditions and record-high iodine loading capability under dynamic conditions.

Rapid, selective capture of toxic oxo-anions of Se(iv), Se(vi) and As(v) from water by an ionic metal-organic framework (iMOF)

Shivani Sharma et al.

Summary: The design and synthesis of a chemically stable cationic MOF (iMOF-3C) has been demonstrated for selective removal of toxic oxo-anions of Se(vi)/As(v)/Se(iv) even at ultralow concentrations. The material shows exceptional performance in the presence of interfering ions, with high distribution coefficient values and validated uptake capacity in complicated systems such as river water. The exceptional binding ability of iMOF-3C is supported by DFT calculations and aids in visualizing the binding sites for the entrapped oxo-anions.
