Real-Time Dissecting the Dynamics of Drug Transportation in the Live Brain

Zhi-Gang Wang et al.

Summary: Brain diseases pose an increasing threat to human health, while understanding the transport mechanisms of drugs in live brains remains limited. Through tracking the dynamics of WGA in live brains, this study revealed influences of specific-binding molecules and ECS nature on transport dynamics, paving the way for exploring the biophysics of drug transport in live brains and identifying potential new therapeutic applications for brain diseases.

Light Sheet Microscopy-Assisted 3D Analysis of SARS-CoV-2 Infection in the Respiratory Tract of the Ferret Model

Luca M. Zaeck et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the utility of volumetric three-dimensional immunofluorescence imaging to investigate host-pathogen interactions of SARS-CoV-2 in ferrets, providing detailed quantification of infection foci and suggesting clustering of infection foci in close proximity. The study presents the first specific 3D visualization of SARS-CoV-2 infection, providing valuable insights into spatial tissue morphology of critically important respiratory pathogens.

Influenza A Viruses Enter Host Cells via Extracellular Ca2+ Influx-Involved Clathrin-Mediated Endocytosis

Meng-Ni Bao et al.

Summary: The study shows that the internalization of Influenza A virus (IAV) into host cells is facilitated by an increase in cytosolic calcium ion concentration, mainly attributed to extracellular calcium influx. Calcium influx is essential for clathrin-mediated endocytosis of IAVs and possibly plays a role in dynamin-promoted membrane fission.
