The influence of helix angle of router bits on chip flow, roughness and noise level in milling different grain angle orientation of teak wood

Andre Novayer et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of conventional and helical router bits in milling teak wood, finding that down-milling resulted in improved surface roughness, lower noise levels, and better chip flow. Higher helix angles in the router bits produced better surface roughness and reduced noise levels. Increasing wood grain angles led to higher surface roughness and noise levels.
