Fabrication of an electrochemical sensor with Au nanorods-graphene oxide hybrid nanocomposites for in situ measurement of cloxacillin

Amir-Mohammad Golkarieh et al.

Summary: Extensive research has been conducted on the impact of antibiotics on human health, water resources, and the environment, in response to their increasing use and entry into the environment. A suitable method for detecting and eliminating trace amounts of the antibiotic cloxacillin in water was proposed in this study, utilizing a new electrochemical nanosensor and a novel carbon nanocomposite. The nanosensor was capable of measuring cloxacillin in the 5.0-775.0 nM range with a detection limit of 1.6 nM, while the carbon nanocomposite showed high adsorption capacity for the removal of water-soluble pharmaceutical contaminants.

Design of ultrathin nanosheet subunits ZnIn2S4 hollow nanocages with enhanced photoelectric conversion for ultrasensitive photoelectrochemical sensing

Jingjun Peng et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-efficiency photoactive material, hollow ZnIn2S4 nanocages, was synthesized through a metal-organic framework (MOF) derived method. When combined with TiO2 modified electrode, the ZIS-HNCs exhibited intense transient photocurrent and were utilized to establish a signal-off photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor for sensitive detection of lincomycin. This study provides a promising strategy for designing nanomaterials with superior photoelectric activity for PEC sensing applications.

Modification performance and electrochemical characteristics of different groups of modified aptamers applied for label-free electrochemical impedimetric sensors

Mi-Na Nan et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of amino and thiolated aptamers in constructing label-free electrochemical impedimetric aptasensors, focusing on aptamer modification density, OTA recognition, and stability. The results showed that amino aptamers had higher initial modification density but poorer stability, while thiolated aptamers maintained relatively constant density and could be reused. Gold nanoparticles were found to play an important role in signal amplification during sensor preparation.

A SnO2/Bi2S3-based photoelectrochemical aptasensor for sensitive detection of tobramycin in milk

Xiao Liu et al.

Summary: A novel aptamer modified SnO2/Bi2S3-based photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was developed for the determination of TOB in milk, showing a wide linear response range of 5-50 nmol/L with a detection limit of 4.28 nmol/L. The high sensitivity of the sensor is attributed to the favorable energy level matching of SnO2 and Bi2S3, and further enhanced by the use of oxalate. The stability of the PEC aptasensor is satisfactory due to calcination of SnO2/Bi2S3 at 450 degrees C.

Dual-ratiometric aptasensor for streptomycin detection based on the in-situ coupling of photoelectrochemical and electrochemical assay with a bifunctional probe of methylene blue

Dong Liu et al.

Summary: This work presents a dual-ratiometric aptasensor for streptomycin detection, utilizing the in-situ coupling of photoelectrochemical and electrochemical assays. The use of methylene blue as a bifunctional probe enables the simultaneous generation of photocurrent and redox current, resulting in enhanced analytical performances compared to single-signal or single-ratiometric assays. The MB-based dual-mode sensing offers a promising tool for studying interactions between PEC and EC behaviors.
