Application of forest inventories to assess the forest developmental stages on plots dedicated to long-term vegetation studies

Tomasz Durak et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for assessing forest developmental stages using variables from vegetation surveys and forest inventories conducted in managed European beech forests. Three distinct forest stages were identified and classified as growing (G), optimum (O), and terminal (T) stage. The method provides a simple, clear, and repeatable way to evaluate managed forest stands for long-term study purposes.
