Summary: The study found that estimations based on cyclic triaxial stress conditions underestimated ground settlement, with two kinds of vertical strain occurring after a certain number of cycles: incremental collapse causing unstable deformation (failure), and plastic creep with deformation continuing to accumulate at a dampened rate (per cycle).
