Summary: This study reviewed and analyzed studies investigating platelet activity, functionality, and morpho-structure in subjects with depressive disorder. The findings suggest that depressed subjects may have platelet dysfunctions, which could lead to a hyperreactive state and increased cardiovascular risk. Antidepressant treatments may reduce this hyperreactivity and potentially decrease cardiovascular risk in depressed patients.
