Morphological, Physiological and Molecular Markers for Salt-Stressed Plants

Aigerim Soltabayeva et al.

Summary: Salinity stress adversely affects plant growth and development by influencing genetic interactions and disrupting metabolic balance. Researchers are using machine learning approaches to phenotype plants and understand the impact of salt stress on plants more effectively.

Response of Olive Shoots to Salinity Stress Suggests the Involvement of Sulfur Metabolism

Muhammad Ajmal Bashir et al.

Summary: Global warming can lead to drought and soil salinization in agriculture. Olive trees are considered moderately resistant to soil salinity compared to other fruit trees. The study shows that transgenic olive lines overexpressing osmotin gene cope better with salt stress by inducing sulfur metabolism, demonstrating the key role of the sulfur assimilation pathway in the adaptive response of olive plants under salt stress conditions.
