The effects of drought on plant-pollinator interactions: What to expect?

Charlotte Descamps et al.

Summary: Climate change is predicted to increase extreme events like summer droughts in temperate zones, affecting plant water availability and potentially disrupting plant-pollinator interactions. While effects of drought on plant-pollinator relationships are not well studied, it could alter interactions through changes in floral signals and rewards at the plant individual scale. This review synthesizes evidence on the impact of drought on floral signals and rewards and discusses their potential disruption of plant-pollinator relationships.

Meta-analysis of drought and heat stress combination impact on crop yield and yield components

Itay Cohen et al.

Summary: The combination of drought and heat waves can have a devastating impact on agricultural production and crop yield, affecting harvest index, crop life cycle, and seed characteristics. These impacts are more severe when the stress is applied during the reproductive stage of plants. Future studies and breeding efforts should focus on how different crop species respond to drought and heat combination at the reproductive stage.

Different drought resistance mechanisms between two buckwheat species Fagopyrum esculentum and Fagopyrum tataricum

Lauranne Aubert et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of water stress on two pseudocereal species, common buckwheat and Tartary buckwheat. While common buckwheat showed sensitivity to water stress, Tartary buckwheat exhibited more resistance. Water stress significantly affected vegetative growth in common buckwheat but not in Tartary buckwheat, with differences in leaf production, stomatal conductance, and photosynthesis rate between the two species.

Invasive Impatiens glandulifera: A driver of changes in native vegetation?

Judith Bieberich et al.

Summary: Invasive plant Impatiens glandulifera has a causal but low effect on native vegetation, with the impact slightly depending on habitat type. Experimental removal and planting of I. glandulifera indicated a causal effect on native biomass, but species alpha-diversity and composition were not significantly affected.
