DeepDist: real-value inter-residue distance prediction with deep residual convolutional network

Tianqi Wu et al.

Summary: The study introduces a multi-task deep learning distance predictor (DeepDist) that can simultaneously predict real-value inter-residue distances and classify them into multiple distance intervals. Tested on 43 CASP13 hard domains, DeepDist achieves comparable performance in real-value distance prediction and multi-class distance prediction.

Hybridized distance- and contact-based hierarchical structure modeling for folding soluble and membrane proteins

Rahmatullah Roche et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new hierarchical structure modeling method, DConStruct, which aims to improve the folding accuracy for both soluble and membrane proteins by better exploiting information encoded in interaction maps at multiple granularities. The experimental validation demonstrates that DConStruct achieves better reconstruction accuracy than CNS, especially at varying contact thresholds. The method shows promise in significantly improving the folding accuracy of ab initio protein folding, surpassing existing approaches in large-scale benchmarking experiments.

Deep learning techniques have significantly impacted protein structure prediction and protein design

Robin Pearce et al.

Summary: The application of deep neural networks in protein structure prediction and design has significantly improved accuracy at the fold level for single-domain proteins. Information stored in neural-network models can advance functional protein design, and the incorporation of deep learning techniques represents an exciting future direction for both fields.
