Structural characterization and immunomodulatory activity of a new polysaccharide isolated from the radix of Platycodon grandiflorum

Shan Shan et al.

Summary: A novel polysaccharide fraction named PGPIV-1-a was isolated from Platycodon grandiflorum in this study, showing neutral heteropolysaccharide properties and biological activities. PGPIV-1-a was found to stimulate cell proliferation, enhance phagocytic capacity, and induce the secretion of inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: The study focused on predicting B- and T-cell epitopes of the S glycoprotein of the novel coronavirus for vaccine design. Two vaccine constructs were designed and validated for their potential immunogenicity using various methods. The in silico validations supported the ability of the vaccine constructs to induce both innate and specific immune responses in preclinical studies.

Dietary choline deficiency aggravated the intestinal apoptosis in association with the MAPK signalling pathways of juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Zehong Yuan et al.

Summary: Dietary choline deficiency increased intestinal apoptosis in juvenile grass carp by upregulating caspase activities and activating the MAPK signaling pathway. Choline requirements for resisting intestinal apoptosis in grass carp were calculated to be 1162.13-1780.93 mg kg(-1) diet.

Summary: Breast cancer is a highly heterogeneous disease with different subtypes showing distinct biological characteristics and behaviors. This study identified multiple glycosylation sites and glycan types of mannose receptors in breast cancer patients' serum, some of which can be used to differentiate the subtypes of breast cancer.
