Rapamycin Improves Recognition Memory and Normalizes Amino-Acids and Amines Levels in the Hippocampal Dentate Gyrus in Adult Rats Exposed to Ethanol during the Neonatal Period

Malgorzata Lopatynska-Mazurek et al.

Summary: The mTOR signaling pathway plays a crucial role in synaptic plasticity in mammals, and prenatal ethanol exposure can disrupt this pathway in the fetal hippocampus. Pre-treatment with rapamycin can reverse ethanol-induced memory deficits in adult rats, suggesting the involvement of mTORC1 in the deleterious effects of ethanol on the developing brain.
