The first isolation and molecular characterization of Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae Pakistan strain: A causative agent of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia

Faisal Ahmad et al.

Summary: The study successfully isolated a local strain of Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae in Pakistan and provided important molecular characterization information on the infection in goats. The isolated strain could potentially be used for the development of diagnostics and control measures against Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia (CCPP).

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of CCPP in sheep and goats across different geographical regions and highlighted the high prevalences of CCPP, particularly in Africa and Asia. The results emphasize the need for appropriate control measures and recommend active surveillance and research on risk factors.

Seroprevalence and Associated Risk Factors of Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia in the Small Ruminants of Oman

Muhammad Hammad Hussain et al.

Summary: The seroepidemiology of CCPP in small ruminants in Oman showed varying prevalence rates in different governorates, with goats having a significantly higher infection rate than sheep. At the flock level, open herds, coastal locations, and flock sizes of more than 100 animals were identified as significant risk factors for CCPP. At the animal level, goats and small ruminants above the age of one year were found to be more likely to acquire CCPP.
