Early post-stroke rehabilitation for upper limb motor function using virtual reality and exoskeleton: equally efficient in older patients

Tereza Gueye et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effectiveness of virtual reality therapy using Armeo in early post-stroke rehabilitation, specifically focusing on the elderly. Results showed that adding virtual reality therapy to daily rehabilitation programs was more effective in improving upper extremity motor performance compared to conventional physiotherapy, and this effectiveness did not diminish with patient age, suggesting it could be a promising addition to traditional physiotherapy in both older and younger stroke patients.
