Miro1 Regulates Neuronal Mitochondrial Transport and Distribution to Alleviate Neuronal Damage in Secondary Brain Injury After Intracerebral Hemorrhage in Rats

Bing Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that upregulation of Miro1 significantly alleviated secondary brain injury (SBI) induced by intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in vivo and in vitro, by improving neuronal damage through facilitation of mitochondrial transport and distribution.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Mediated Mitochondrial Transfer: a Therapeutic Approach for Ischemic Stroke

Meng Lu et al.

Summary: Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability globally. Maintaining mitochondrial function is crucial for cell survival and neurological progress post ischemic stroke. Stem cell-mediated mitochondrial transfer shows promise as a therapeutic approach for ischemic stroke, where mesenchymal stem cells can transfer healthy mitochondria to damaged cells and rescue tissue degeneration caused by mitochondrial damage.

Intercellular mitochondrial transfer as a means of tissue revitalization

Delin Liu et al.

Summary: Mitochondria, crucial for cell metabolism and tissue survival, undergo morphological changes and can be transferred intercellularly. The phenomenon of mitochondrial transfer plays a key role in tissue homeostasis, damaged tissue repair, tumor progression, and immunoregulation, functioning under both physiological and pathological conditions. Various mechanisms contributing to this process, such as trigger factors and transfer routes, are summarized in order to explore potential therapeutic strategies for rescuing tissue damage and inhibiting tumor progression through mitochondria-targeted applications.
