ROS-Dependent Lipid Peroxidation and Reliant Antioxidant Ferroptosis-Suppressor-Protein 1 in Rheumatoid Arthritis: a Covert Clue for Potential Therapy

Zhaoxiang Xie et al.

Summary: Rheumatoid arthritis is a common autoimmune disease with unknown underlying mechanisms, where oxidative stress and ferroptosis may play key roles in its development. Ferroptosis-suppressor-protein 1 is identified as a potential therapeutic target for RA due to its interaction with TNF-alpha/ROS-positive feedback loop.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

PARP inhibition promotes ferroptosis via repressing SLC7A11 and synergizes with ferroptosis inducers in BRCA-proficient ovarian cancer

Ting Hong et al.

Summary: The study reveals that ferroptosis contributes to the efficacy of PARP inhibitor olaparib by downregulating SLC7A11 expression. Interference with ferroptosis leads to resistance to olaparib, while boosting ferroptosis enhances sensitivity to PARP inhibitors in BRCA-proficient ovarian cancer cells.

Comprehensive Analysis Identifies Potential Ferroptosis-Associated mRNA Therapeutic Targets in Ovarian Cancer

Jiyan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified two molecular subtypes (C1 and C2) based on the ferroptosis mRNA expression profile, showing distinct clinical outcomes. The C1 subtype exhibited higher stromal score, immune cell score, immune function, and mRNA expression levels of immune checkpoints compared to C2. Potential small molecular drugs and chemotherapy drug sensitivity were also identified. Furthermore, a 15-ferroptosis-related mRNA signature and a nomogram model were developed for predicting outcomes and overall survival probability in ovarian cancer patients.
