Improved Assessment of Response Status in Patients with Pancreatic Cancer Treated with Neoadjuvant Therapy using Somatic Mutations and Liquid Biopsy Analysis

Lingdi Yin et al.

Summary: The study revealed that somatic mutations, CTCs, and ctDNA still exist in patients with PDAC who achieved pCR after NAT, potentially indicating early recurrence and reduced survival. The current regression evaluation system of PDAC needs to be reassessed at a molecular level.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

Preoperative CTC-Detection by CellSearch(R) Is Associated with Early Distant Metastasis and Impaired Survival in Resected Pancreatic Cancer

Harald Hugenschmidt et al.

Summary: The presence of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in preoperative samples of pancreatic cancer patients undergoing surgery was associated with earlier cancer metastasis and shorter survival, suggesting that CTCs may serve as a guide for initial treatment decisions in resectable pancreatic cancer patients.

Molecular Approaches Using Body Fluid for the Early Detection of Pancreatic Cancer

Kennichi Satoh

Summary: PDAC is the most malignant form of gastrointestinal tumor, with poor prognosis due to difficulty in early diagnosis and rapid growth. Early surgical resection in early stages shows favorable outcome, highlighting the significance of early detection for improvement of prognosis. Advances in molecular technologies have enabled non-invasive approaches in detecting genetic changes for precursor lesions of PDAC.

LINC00460 promotes pancreatic cancer progression by sponging miR-491-5p

Jiali Wu et al.

Summary: LINC00460 is up-regulated in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Functional experiments showed that knockdown of LINC00460 inhibited cell proliferation and migration, while also leading to cell cycle blockage and enhanced apoptosis. Mechanistic investigations revealed that LINC00460 directly binds to and attenuates the tumor suppressor miR-491-5p, promoting the aggressiveness of PDAC.
