Evaluation of three commercial assays for SARS-CoV-2 molecular detection in upper respiratory tract samples

Flora Marzia Liotti et al.

Summary: The study compared the diagnostic accuracy of different RT-PCR based assays for SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection in respiratory tract samples of patients with COVID-19 suspicion. The Allplex (TM) 2019-nCoV, Simplexa (TM) COVID-19 Direct, and Quanty COVID-19 assays showed comparable results. Larger comparison studies are needed to determine the role these assays might play in future clinical practice.

Clinical validation of quantitative SARS-CoV-2 antigen assays to estimate SARS-CoV-2 viral loads in nasopharyngeal swabs

Kotaro Aoki et al.

Summary: The study found that Lumipulse (R) SARS-CoV-2 Ag has high concordance with RT-PCR for SARS-CoV-2 and can be used for the diagnosis of COVID-19 in any clinical setting. Therefore, this fully automated chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay system will contribute to the expansion of testing capability for SARS-CoV-2.
