Magnetoacoustic wave energy dissipation in the atmosphere of solar pores

Caitlin A. Gilchrist-Millar et al.

Summary: Observational evidence of magnetohydrodynamic wave activity in solar pores is presented, with energy fluxes decreasing at higher atmospheric heights, suggesting solar pores can efficiently guide wave energy upwards. The study highlights the presence of both body- and surface-mode sausage waves in solar pores.

Transition to turbulence in nonuniform coronal loops driven by torsional Alfven waves

Sergio Diaz-Suarez et al.

Summary: Both observations and numerical simulations suggest that Alfvenic waves may carry enough energy to sustain high temperatures in the solar atmosphere. However, the inefficiency of wave energy thermalization can be overcome by turbulence driven by the nonlinear evolution of phase-mixed torsional Alfven waves, speeding up the generation of small scales and enhancing the deposition rates of wave energy into the coronal plasma.
