Generation of CD163-edited pig via electroporation of the CRISPR/Cas9 system into porcine in vitro-fertilized zygotes

Fuminori Tanihara et al.

Summary: This study successfully generated CD163-modified pigs by introducing the CD163 gene into porcine zygotes using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Three out of the four tested gRNAs showed high editing efficiency, but further improvements are needed for generating genetically modified pigs with high efficiency.

Comparison of the effects of introducing the CRISPR/Cas9 system by microinjection and electroporation into porcine embryos at different stages

Quynh Anh Le et al.

Summary: Cytoplasmic microinjection and electroporation of the CRISPR/Cas9 system into zygotes are commonly used for generating genetically modified pigs, but they often lead to mosaic mutations in embryos. This study found that the gene editing method and embryonic stage for gene editing can significantly impact the gene editing efficiency and mutation rates of porcine embryos.
