Degradation of norfloxacin wastewater using kaolin/steel slag particle electrodes: Performance, mechanism and pathway

Soybean biodiesel production using synergistic CaO/Ag nano catalyst: Process optimization, kinetic study, and economic evaluation

Summary: A heterogeneous CaO/Ag nano catalyst was developed for efficient biodiesel production through transesterification of soybean oil, showing synergistic effects between silver and CaO. The catalyst exhibited abundant strong basic sites with larger surface area and pore size, reducing mass transfer resistance. Optimized conditions achieved a biodiesel yield of 90.95%, with potential for repeated use.

Synthesis and evaluation in the CO2 capture process of potassium-modified lithium silicates produced from steel metallurgical slags

Summary: Lithium silicate-based CO2 sorbents were synthesized using steel metallurgical slags, with K2CO3 addition improving CO2 capture efficiency by facilitating CO2 diffusion. The best capture capacity value of 104 mg(CO2)/g(material) was achieved with 20 wt% K2CO3 at 600 degrees C. Thermal stability was excellent, with only a 10% reduction in CO2 capture capacity after 20 adsorption-desorption cycles using 20 vol% CO2.

EPR and CV studies cast further light on the origin of the enhanced hydrogen production through glycerol photoreforming on CuO:TiO2 physical mixtures

Summary: Different CuO nanoparticles were synthesized and tested in CuO:TiO2 physical mixtures for hydrogen production through glycerol photoreforming. CuO alone was inactive whereas its presence in CuO:TiO2 mixtures significantly improved the photoactivity of TiO2, with smaller CuO nanoparticles leading to higher hydrogen productions. Results obtained through combination of EPR and CV studies suggested the existence of a Cu(II)-Cu-0 catalytic cycle, providing a mechanism for hydrogen production.
