A Review on Haematococcus pluvialis Bioprocess Optimization of Green and Red Stage Culture Conditions for the Production of Natural Astaxanthin

Siti Nur Hazwani Oslan et al.

Summary: The green microalga Haematococcus pluvialis utilizes a two-stage process to produce astaxanthin, with the first stage focused on biomass accumulation and the second stage on pigment production under stress conditions. Various strategies such as optimizing cell growth and applying stress conditions have been explored to improve astaxanthin production.

Hydrothermal synthesis of novel two-dimensional ?-quartz nanoplates and their applications in energy-saving, high-efficiency, microalgal biorefineries

Gyuseop Moon et al.

Summary: A facile template-free hydrothermal method was developed for the controlled synthesis of ultrathin α-quartz nanoplates, which were used to efficiently extract valuable chemicals from microalgal cells. The anisotropic nanostructures of the nanoplates enhanced the extraction efficiency significantly and reduced the dosage of nanomaterial needed for extraction.
