Is there a relationship between homes' radon gas of MS and non-MS individuals, and the patients' paraclinical magnetic resonance imaging and visually evoked potentials in Yazd-Iran?

Maryam Entezari et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between radon gas concentration and MS, revealing significant positive relationships between radon concentration and building's age, as well as significant inverse relationships with building's ventilation and cooling systems. However, no significant correlation was found between radon concentration and MS incidence, as well as with the location of plaques in MRI test results of the patients.

Effect of land use on cultivable bioaerosols in the indoor air of hospital in southeast Iran and its determination of the affected radius around of hospital

Fariba Abbasi et al.

Summary: The study focused on assessing the impact of land use on hospital bioaerosols and determining effective radii for reducing fungal and bacterial concentrations. Results showed higher concentrations of fungi and bacteria in hospital B, with land use predominantly urban and bare. Mathematical modeling indicated different trends in land use variation across hospitals. A positive correlation was found between bare land and fungal/bacterial concentrations, with effective radii identified for reducing fungal and bacterial levels through green space creation. Management of land use within a 5 km radius of hospitals is deemed necessary to mitigate pollution.

4-chlorophenol removal by air lift packed bed bioreactor and its modeling by kinetics and numerical model (artificial neural network)

Elahe Azizi et al.

Summary: The study found that 4-chlorophenol removal efficiency in the Airlift packed bed bioreactor decreased with increasing concentration and decreasing hydraulic retention time, with physical removal dominating in biological treatment. ALPBB is a suitable option for lower concentrations of 4-CP, but less efficient at higher concentrations. Modification of this reactor is suggested for high concentration removal.

n-BuOH extract of Bletilla striata exerts chemopreventive effects on lung against SiO2 nanoparticles through activation of Nrf2 pathway

Gang Chen et al.

Summary: The n-BuOH extract of B. striata showed lung protective effect by increasing Nrf2 expression and suppressing Bax/Bcl-2 pathway in nm SiO2-induced mice model. Gymnoside II, one of the main bio-active constituents, could partially reverse SiO2-induced apoptosis and ROS production in lung A549 cells through enhancing Nrf2 expression. This study suggests that small molecules of B. striata can provide a protective effect against nm SiO2-induced lung injuries via Nrf2-dependent mechanism.

Multifunctional Fe3O4@SiO2-CDs magnetic fluorescent nanoparticles as effective carrier of gambogic acid for inhibiting VX2 tumor cells

Yuxia Guan et al.

Summary: This study introduces a dual-functional platform for synergistic therapy, involving drug release and magnetic targeting. The multifunctional magnetic fluorescent nanocomposite particles Fe3O4@SiO2-CDs were successfully synthesized and demonstrated high drug loading capacity and efficient drug release behavior at a specific pH. Additionally, the nanoparticles exhibited low cytotoxicity and were effective in inhibiting cancer cells in vitro, while also showing remarkable magnetic targeting capabilities for tumors.
