Investment Case for a Comprehensive Package of Interventions Against Hepatitis B in China: Applied Modeling to Help National Strategy Planning

Shevanthi Nayagam et al.

Summary: The study shows that despite the success in expanding vaccination since 1992, there will still be around 60 million people living with chronic hepatitis B in China by 2030, with 10 million deaths related to the disease. It is estimated that active case-finding and optimal antiviral treatment could reduce deaths by 2.1 million, and the comprehensive package of interventions is likely to have a positive return on investment to society of US$1.57 per US dollar invested.

Estrogen Regulates Local Cysteine Metabolism in Mouse Myometrium

Damian D. Guerra et al.

Summary: Sulfur amino acid metabolism plays a role in reproductive physiology, with estrogen influencing gene expression and redox balance by regulating transsulfuration enzymes. In the mouse myometrium, E(2) reciprocally regulates CBS and CSE expression during different phases of the estrous cycle. E(2) specifically affects transsulfuration enzyme expression in uterine smooth muscle, suggesting a potential role in regulating uterine redox homeostasis.
