Enhanced photocatalytic performance of novel S2- doped MIL-53(Fe) under visible light

Prince George et al.

Summary: This work systematically investigates the doping of sulfide ions (S2-) on photoactive MIL-53(Fe) and evaluates its performance. The study found that doping can influence the optical band-gap energy of materials, but this does not always lead to improved performance in photocatalytic reactions, especially for hybrid materials like Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs). By varying the percentage of dopant in the reaction mixture, the study explored the effects of doping on the structural conformations and optical properties of MIL-53(Fe), demonstrating changes in band-gap energy and electron cloud expansion. The best performance in terms of MB degradation was observed for 1% S doped MIL-53(Fe) and the material showed stability even after multiple cycles, indicating potential for practical applications.

Tuning Lewis acidity of iron-based metal-organic frameworks for enhanced catalytic ozonation

Deyou Yu et al.

Summary: Ce doping can significantly enhance the catalytic performance of iron-based MOFs, with total Lewis acidity and salicylic acid (SA) degradation rate linearly correlated to Ce substitution ratio. MIL-88A(Fe0.80Ce0.20) showed about 3 times higher degradation rate and 2 times higher TOC removal compared to the parent MIL-88A(Fe).

Critical aspects of the stability and catalytic activity of MIL-100(Fe) in different advanced oxidation processes

A. M. Chavez et al.

Summary: The synthesis, characterization, stability, and application of the Fe-based MOF MIL-100(Fe) were studied, showing low stability under conditions with phosphates and high oxidant doses plus radiation. High catalytic activity was achieved in some advanced oxidation processes, but concerns about stability due to TMA and iron leaching were raised.
