Consumer awareness campaign to reduce household food waste based on structural equation behavior modeling in Hungary

Summary: This study used PLS-SEM to explore behavioral patterns behind household food waste, identifying income, age, education, residence, and region as key socio-demographical factors influencing food wastage. The results emphasized the importance of childhood education and awareness raising in shaping proper behavioral patterns, and highlighted cooking too much food as the most significant pattern influencing food wastage. Contrary to expectations, unplanned food purchases were of minor significance.
