Exothermic dark matter for XENON1T excess

Hyun Min Lee

Summary: In light of the excess in electron recoil observed in the XENON1T experiment, the study examines the concept of exothermic dark matter composed of two states with mass splitting. By analyzing the required recoil energy for the Xenon excess, the research determines the mass difference between the two component states and discusses the implications of dark matter interactions in the effective theory for exothermic dark matter.

Xenon-1T excess as a possible signal of a sub-GeV hidden sector dark matter

Amin Aboubrahim et al.

Summary: The model proposed explains the enhancement observed in the Xenon-1T data at 2.5 keV by involving dark matter composed of two essentially mass degenerate Dirac fermions and a dark photon. The excess events in Xenon-1T data are computed to result from the scattering between heavier and lighter dark fermions in xenon. This model can be tested with further data from Xenon-1T and future experiments such as SuperCDMS.

Summary: This study explores various new physics models to explain the recent XENON1T results, such as dark matter absorption and dark matter-electron scattering. Conclusions include introducing a novel axion model to explain the excess, using different states of dark matter to fit the data, and considering dark matter interacting through scattering off cosmic rays.
