XENON1T excess from electron recoils of non-relativistic Dark Matter

Dario Buttazzo et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrates that electron recoils induced by non-relativistic Dark Matter interactions can fit well the recently reported Xenon1T excess, if they are mediated by a light pseudo-scalar in the MeV range. This is due to the favorable momentum-dependence of the resulting scattering rate, partially compensating the unfavorable kinematics.

Signals of the QCD axion with mass of 17 MeV/c2: Nuclear transitions and light meson decays

Daniele S. M. Alves

Summary: The QCD axion remains experimentally viable in a specific mass range with certain properties, which can explain anomalies observed in nuclear deexcitations. These properties also naturally explain the absence of anomalous features in other measured transitions.

Probing axionlike particles with γγ final states from vector boson fusion processes at the LHC

Andres Florez et al.

Summary: A feasibility study was conducted to search for axionlike particles using vector boson fusion processes at the LHC, presenting the total VBF ALP production cross sections, decay widths and lifetimes, and kinematic distributions as a function of ALP mass and cutoff scale. The study showed that the energetic diphoton pair combined with forward jets with large dijet mass and pseudorapidity separation can significantly reduce Standard Model backgrounds, leading to a 5 sigma discovery reach in a previously unstudied region of the ALP parameter space at the LHC.
