Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi mitigate drought stress in citrus by modulating root microenvironment

Hui-Qian Cheng et al.

Summary: This study showed that inoculation with Funneliformis mosseae can improve plant growth and root exudate compositions, increase soil glomalin concentrations, and enhance soil aggregate stability. The mycorrhizal fungi can mitigate drought damage by altering root exudate components and soil protein levels in the rhizosphere.

Unravelling the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in mitigating the oxidative burst of plants under drought stress

Y-N Zou et al.

Summary: Continuous climate changes have made soil drought stress the main limiting factor for crop growth in arid and semi-arid regions. Plant-associated microbes like arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can regulate physiological and molecular responses to tolerate drought stress by enhancing antioxidant defence systems, which helps in coping with drought-induced oxidative damage.
