Influence of the capping of biogenic silver nanoparticles on their toxicity and mechanism of action towards Sclerotinia scierotiorum

Summary: The study demonstrates that the capping of biogenic silver nanoparticles plays a crucial role in controlling nanoparticle size and contributing to their biological activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Capped nanoparticles showed significant inhibitory effects on the phytopathogenic fungus, while uncapped nanoparticles were ineffective. Additionally, uncapped nanoparticles exhibited higher genotoxicity towards cell lines and major impacts on soil microbiota compared to capped nanoparticles.
