Assessing spatio-temporal patterns and driving force of ecosystem service value in the main urban area of Guangzhou

Yi He et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the land use changes and evolution of ecosystem service value in the main urban area of Guangzhou using multi-temporal remote sensing images. The expansion of built-up land, reduction of forest and cultivated land led to a decrease in ecosystem service value. Water supply, food production, nutrient cycling, and gas regulation were identified as the main ecosystem service functions affected by these land use changes.

Measuring Sustainable Development Using an Extended Hellwig Method: A Case Study of Education

Ewa Roszkowska et al.

Summary: Benchmarking countries' performance in sustainable development is crucial for understanding success factors and addressing priority issues. Our study introduces a new approach based on the extended Hellwig method, contributing significantly to the measurement of sustainable development. This framework is tested in evaluating the implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy in education, revealing disparities in 2015.
