The perceptions of stakeholders on current management of mangroves in the Sine-Saloum Delta, Senegal

Manjula Arumugam et al.

Summary: This study used Q methodology to identify the subjective perceptions of local stakeholders on mangrove management in the Sokone and Toubacouta regions of the Sine-Saloum Delta in Senegal. Three distinct discourses were identified: the 'Official' discourse, the 'Happy Villagers' discourse, and the 'Unhappy Villagers' discourse. While there is consensus among the discourses in wanting improvements in the current management, there is no agreement on what needs to change.

Characterizing vegetation response to rainfall at multiple temporal scales in the Sahel-Sudano-Guinean region using transfer function analysis

Jie Zhou et al.

Summary: Rainfall is a key driver of terrestrial vegetation, and understanding the response mechanism of vegetation to rainfall is crucial. The Transfer Function Analysis method was used to capture the vegetation response to rainfall at multiple temporal scales, providing valuable insights into the relationship between vegetation growth and fluctuations in rainfall. The results suggest that the TFA method is a powerful tool for quantifying the vegetation-rainfall response regime across different timescales.

An alternative approach to delineate wetland influence zone of a tropical intertidal mudflat using geo-information technology

Debajit Datta et al.

Summary: Mudflats are important coastal wetlands with high carbon sequestration and biodiversity potentials. Accurate demarcation of wetland influence zones is crucial for sustainable wetland management. The use of NDWI and TVDI indices can help delineate different areas and monitor environmental changes around mudflats.
