Mortality and thermal environment (UTCI) in Poland-long-term, multi-city study

Magdalena Kuchcik

Summary: The study found that extreme thermal conditions in Polish cities have a significant impact on mortality rates, with differences in the number of cold and heat stress days between cities. There are also variations in the dependence on UTCI among different cities, and the risk of death increases significantly under high temperature conditions.

Predicting urban thermal comfort from calibrated UTCI assessment scale - A case study in Belo Horizonte city, southeastern Brazil

Thiago Jose Vieira Silva et al.

Summary: The study calibrated the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) to evaluate thermal comfort in urban spaces of Belo Horizonte/Brazil, dividing thermal sensation into Cold/Cool/Slightly cool, Neutral, and Slightly warm/Warm/Hot categories. The results show that urban thermal comfort can be predicted through UTCI, providing valuable information for decision-making in urban planning strategies.

Developing an adapted UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index) for the elderly population in China?s severe cold climate region

Bo Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes an adapted UTCI method to evaluate outdoor thermal conditions in China, utilizing CFD model and machine learning techniques to improve accuracy, especially for the older population in severe cold regions. The research also identifies key urban spatial variables that significantly impact outdoor thermal comfort.
