Highly interconnected macroporous MBG/PLGA scaffolds with enhanced mechanical and biological properties via green foaming strategy

Chaobo Song et al.

Summary: In this study, mesoporous bioactive glass particles are incorporated into PLGA to fabricate highly interconnected macroporous composite scaffolds with enhanced mechanical and biological properties using a supercritical CO2 foaming method. The composite scaffolds show improved strength and Young's modulus compared to neat PLGA scaffolds, and the interconnected macroporous structure benefits cell ingrowth. Additionally, the release of bioactive ions from the composite scaffolds creates a promising microenvironment for cellular proliferation and adhesion.

Effect of the Incorporation of Polycaprolactone (PCL) on the Retrogradation of Binary Blends with Cassava Thermoplastic Starch (TPS)

Jose Herminsul Mina Hernandez

Summary: The study investigated the effects of incorporating PCL into TPS at different ratios, finding that mechanical properties improved with increased PCL content; both retrogradation and plasticization processes coexisted simultaneously, with retrogradation prevailing in the short term; TPS/PCL interactions were not strong enough to affect structural changes in TPS; relative humidity during storage had a greater impact on retrogradation phenomenon than PCL content in the binary blend.

Formation of Rutin-β-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes by Supercritical Antisolvent Precipitation

Paola Franco et al.

Summary: In this study, rutin-beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes were prepared using Supercritical AntiSolvent (SAS) precipitation. The well-defined composite microparticles showed significantly improved dissolution rate compared to unprocessed rutin, leading to a reduction in polymer amount in the SAS composite formulations.
