Systemic failures in north-south climate change knowledge transfer: a case study of the Congo Basin

Minette Nago et al.

Summary: This study found that climate change cooperation projects in the Congo Basin are hindered by power imbalances and misalignment of actors' incentives, which undermine their capacity building potential. The current north-south scientific knowledge transfer process is not effectively supporting the development prospects or capacity building needs of Congo Basin countries. It is suggested that identifying the interests and agendas of all actors at the integration stage before the research stage would be a useful strategy for improving such projects.
