Prevalence of anaemia in Brazilian children in different epidemiological scenarios: an updated meta-analysis

Summary: Based on a new systematic review, the prevalence of anaemia in Brazilian children is higher than the national average in different scenarios, with the highest rates observed in populations facing social inequities. Compared to previous meta-analysis, there has been a reduction in anaemia prevalence in all scenarios analyzed.

Prevalence of iron-deficiency anaemia in Brazilian children under 5 years of age: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: The study found that the prevalence of iron-deficiency anaemia in Brazilian children under 5 years of age was 40.2%. The prevalence of anaemia was associated with the age of the child and the period of data collection. While the efforts made by the Brazilian government were successful in reducing anaemia prevalence, it still remains above acceptable levels for this population group.
