Excellent tribological properties of epoxy-Ti3C2 with three-dimensional nanosheets composites

Fanning Meng et al.

Summary: The poor thermal and friction properties of traditional epoxy resin limit its application in extreme environments. The newly designed epoxy-Ti3C2 3DNS composite showed improved thermal and friction properties, with lower coefficient of thermal expansion and enhanced thermal conductivity. This work is significant for the research of high-performance composite materials.

Tribological and mechanical characterization of epoxy/graphite composite coatings: Effects of particles' size and oxidation

Nedia Gafsi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the mechanical and tribological properties of an epoxy matrix filled with different graphitic particles deposited on an aluminum substrate using the electrostatic spray technique. The results showed that adding crushed graphite improved the dynamic friction performance of the epoxy, while epoxy filled with received graphite had a lower wear rate. Additionally, it was observed that the smaller the particle size, the more significant the reduction in dynamic friction.

Improved mechanical performances of short aramid fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites by Ti3C2 Mxene nanosheets

Bolin Tang et al.

Summary: By binding two-dimensional Ti3C2 Mxene nanosheets to short aramid fibers, a modified SAF (Ti3C2/SAF) was formed to improve the mechanical properties of PP composites. The Ti3C2/SAF/PP composites showed significantly improved tensile and impact strength, attributed to enhanced interfacial bonding strength between fibers and PP. This work provides a promising strategy for enhancing the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced PP composites.

The effect of nano, micro and dual scale filler reinforcement on the morphology, mechanical and barrier properties of polypropylene composites

Mary Jisha J. Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study investigated the reinforcement effect of nano and micro scale fillers separately and in combination in polypropylene thermoplastic. Results showed that 2 wt % of nanosilica exhibited notable tensile strength and modulus, while 4 wt % of nanosilica in dual scale filler reinforced composite displayed enhanced properties. The hybrid composite with 4 wt % of nanosilica and 15 wt % of glass fiber offered higher restrictions to solvent flow and had the least permeability and diffusivity parameters.
