Valosin-containing protein ATPase activity regulates the morphogenesis of Zika virus replication organelles and virus-induced cell death

Anais Anton et al.

Summary: The study identified the AAA+ type ATPase protein VCP as a cellular interaction partner of ZIKV NS4B, and its inhibition impaired ZIKV replication and reduced the formation of convoluted membranes. Inhibition of VCP also affected mitochondrial function and increased apoptosis in ZIKV-infected cells.
