High seroprevalence of feline morbilliviruses in free-roaming domestic cats in Chile

Johannes Busch et al.

Summary: This study found that 63% of free-roaming domestic cats in Chile had antibodies against feline morbillivirus, with antibodies directed exclusively against FeMV-2 being significantly more prevalent in male cats. The correlation between sex and FeMV-2 infection may provide insights into potential routes of transmission. This study provides serological data on FeMV in Chile for the first time.

Feline morbillivirus in northwestern Italy: first detection of genotype 1-B

Elvira Muratore et al.

Summary: A novel morbillivirus, FeMV, was found in stray and domestic cats in Asia, the USA, and Europe. The study in northwestern Italy investigated the distribution of FeMV infection and its relationship with kidney diseases. FeMV RNA was detected in both urine and kidney samples, but a clear association with tubulointerstitial nephritis was not observed. Further research is needed to understand the role of FeMV in feline kidney diseases.
