Surgical anatomy of sigmoid arteries: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Roberto Cirocchi et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the prevalence of sigmoid artery variations in anatomy. The most common origin type was Type 1, while Type 3 was the least common. The number of sigmoid arteries typically ranged from one to five, with three being the most prevalent. Understanding the anatomy of the sigmoid arteries pre-operatively is crucial in avoiding iatrogenic injury.

Summary: LVI is an independent prognostic risk factor for stage II CRC patients. Combining LVI with the 8th TNM staging system improved the predictive accuracy for CRC prognosis. ACT in stage II CRC patients with LVI+ is beneficial for survival.
