Chemical composition and antifungal properties of commercial essential oils against the maize phytopathogenic fungus Fusarium verticillioides

Fernanda Achimon et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the chemical composition of four plant essential oils and evaluated their antifungal and anti-conidiogenic activities against Fusarium verticillioides. Clove essential oil exhibited the strongest antifungal effect, followed by pepper and turmeric oils. Rosemary essential oil inhibited fungal growth and conidial production. The major compounds in each essential oil were identified as key contributors to their bioactivity against the phytopathogenic fungus F. verticillioides.
